Detailed Design



This section contains engineering drawings and specifications for the full scale 50 foot hex platform modules that we will assemble into a larger aggregate structure. A summary of the initial design decisions is here.

The module consists of an interior honeycomb of cellular concrete, and an outer shell of normal density concrete. The cellular concrete is formulated to have the same density as water, and a compressive srength of 1200 psi. The external shell of normal concrete is formulated without large aggregate, for a compressive strength of 3000 psi. The structure is poured in a three-stage process called neutral bouyancy water-bag casting.
